This is a craze with the kids and adults alike so I thought I better get going and design and make one .
Made from red oak 1603 ball bearing and sixteen 5/16” steel balls.
My belt multy position sander came in handy for sanding for this

The spinner is supposed to help relax people by spinning it or do whatever with it just like playing with coins etc.

Also called a FIDGET .

I mast say I did not know what it is until I red your answer.
For what is worth as a construction it looks very solid and nicely put together !!!
Well done !!!!!!

I just made this Fidget by using basic dimension of 3” diameter and used a # 1603 bearing and the rest is adlib .
For the once that I will give to the kids I will use Baltic birch ply as it is more durable and may add a bit more interest to the look I may even use some paint .

Steliart

Thanks but using Baltic birch plywood or such would be a better choice and the rest is imagination .
The kids love them and they great for people that fidget like one of my grandsons .

Kiefer, I made one for my grandson a while back…. It would only spin for about two minutes… So he bought one made of solid brass that would spin for over four minutes…. It’s the bearings…...

Nice. Q: why did you use a 1603 ball bearing? The main stream “widgets” use a 608 bearing. I like the use of ball bearings for the outer area vs bearings.

Nicely made, never heard of such a thing. Any thing to get kid off computer games would be a plus

That’s neat, Klaus. How do you use it? Does it go over your finger?
I found this video show 5 types of spinners. there are a ton of videos out there on You tube.

Just got back from my sis-in-law’s house and my niece just happened to start talking about these. What a coincidence. Now I know. Nice to know what’s going on in the world.
With that said, from looking at the ones she showed me on her I-pad (cheap and expensive) I can say this one is very cool. Made out of wood only makes it better.

Bob
The length of spin is not all there is to it’s weight around the edge and yes the bearing and what you use to spin it with .
I am looking for design ideas .
