Hi guys, I wanted to take a sec and show everyone my newest Smoothing Plane. I have always like the “English” Style Overstuffed Planes, especially those rare ones with a high bed angle and a massive “deco” style Iron. I had some free time over the last two days(I’m all caught up on orders, so if you’re a fellow LJ and ordered a plane or a kit, thank you for your support and you should have gotten your shipping confirmation!) and decided to try out my design. I’m proud to say that this is now my favorite smoothing plane for today and I couldn’t happier with how it works. I always make a small version first to try it out, so this one is 4-3/4” long with a 1-1/8” wide iron. The infill is made of African Blackwood that had just a tiny hint of sapwood on the left side to make it really unique. The bed angle is a steep 62 degrees, making it really shine on some figured Rosewood I used to test it out. If you have any questions please feel free to ask and be sure to check out my website for more info! www.spaceageplane.com
