I made this pen case for someone who wanted it for their boyfriend because he loves pens. The wood is black walnut, the finish is shellac. I used felt for the pen holders, and the pen trays can be easily removed and replaced when necessary. I don’t have a picture of this, but it is also possible to add shelves where the pen trays are. The back of the case has keyhole mounts so that it will sit snug up against the wall. I splined the miter joints for the door, but I don’t have a good picture of that. The handle on the front is something that I turned on the lathe. It was a pretty fun project, and the gift was well received, so I’m glad I went ahead and did it.

Nice idea. Did you make the pens in the last picture?

People will collect anything and they usually like to have something nice to display their collections in. This display is perfect for a pen collection and you did a fine job on it.

Yeah, those pens are mine. I have a picture somewhere of the case full of pens that belonged to the person who got the gift; but I can’t seem to find it at the moment.
