I dug through my pile of black acacia I got from that 100 year old tree cut down in Oakland (see previous blog).

Thanks Scrappy…this one is a little thicker than I wanted but the tenon broke off and I just finished it by hand.

I really like the grain pattern, I like natural edge bowls. I should post some of mine…. ;)

Outstanding looking bowl. The grain is captured so well in that piece.
Where do you get the Acacia wood from?

Jim,

I got all this wood from a tree in Oakland CA. I had a guy cut a large cedar out of my yard when I lived up there and I asked him to call me when he was going to cut anything interesting down. Well, he called one day and for $300 and a couple long days of hauling it out of the back yard of the property I got a bunch of wood. I still have a pile of it on the side of my house.
