I picked up a nice slab of walnut from a neighbor who has a sawmill and kiln in his back yard. The slab was milled to 2 3/8” thick X 36” long. It’s a hefty piece weighing about 35 pounds. The construction is the same basic construction used to make a work bench. This puppy is solid. The hues and grain in this wood is so beautiful that nothing other than a plain clear coat is required.
I designed this coffee table for multi-functional use. Its primary purpose is to be used as a coffee table, but because it is only 36” long, I also use it as an end table and bench. In this case, less is more.
Finish schedule: Target Coatings EM1000 sanding sealer, EM6000 production lacquer (gloss), EM6000 production lacquer (semi-gloss).

-- The wood is good.

Nice table, Not so sure I like the blue inlay though. I would have most likely used epoxy dyed black with maybe some red pigment. Just my thoughts. Nothing wrong with your inlay.
