I’m having a lot fun building these. This one is leopardwood with a bloodwood knob. I started another one today out of tiger curly maple and cocobolo. I guess this solves the ”what to get people for christmas” problem.

Great box. It looks like you are getting good at these. ooh, I can’t wait to see the curly maple/cocobolo. Do you need my shipping address? I think you slipped a picture of this one in the clamps on your last box post. I like the looks of the leopardwood. I have never used it. Looking at it reminds me of lacewood and makes my skin crawl. Is leopardwood an irritant like lacewood?

Nice work Greg. I’d sure like to be on your Christmas list. Have you ever stopped to calculate the cost of the materials in a box? None of my business anyway but I’m just curious.

Best,

jm82423,
I have not had any problems so far with any irritants from the leopardwood.
Outputter,
I really haven’t calculated the materials costs in the boxes because the ones I have built so far are using left over wood in my cutoff bin. The soss barrell hinges are cheap and I have alot of different finishes in my cabinet for varnishes, oils, waxes, etc. Materials are not much but the time involved is alot because there is much hand shaping and hand sanding after the box is glued together.
When I am woodworking I have a lot of fun and time is not an issue.

Those, are some great looking boxes. Have you decided what tools to keep in it yet? Those little allen wrenches always seem to hide from me.
