Upon seeing a bamboo cutting board in December of 2003, I decided I wanted to re-due my kitchen counters with endgrain bamboo. I had a delta table saw and some bar clamps at the time. ( was a home builder ) This is what my kitchen looked like by the time I got done.

Rob – I glued up the end grain in small L shaped blocks – off setting the grain to create a pattern. Than I glue the bocks together off setting it enough so that I would get a piece that I could cut out the radius of approx 2 inches wide. Than I glued all the blocks together. Within the center of that radius I screwed the whole piece down to a piece of 3/4” plywood. Making sure the screws were in the center so I would not hit them when I routed out the piece. Using a router and a circle jig, that I hooked up to my vac pump. cut the outer shape first and than the field material next. When it all fit like a glove, it confirmed my belief in a supreme being.

I like it! Great modern look! Great website too.
What did you use for cabinet doors? Plyboo type of material? What thickness? I was considering making cabinets from bamboo ply, but heard complaints about it warping. Where did you get your material?
Thanks for posting.

Viktor – I suggest using plyboo. They make a good product.

The doors and drawer fronts look great, hell so does that counter top. That really looks nice, one of the best I have seen here.

Man I really like that. I would love to try using bamboo as lumber substitute but I can’t seem to find a supplier in the Dallas area. The nearest Plyboo distributor is in Houston..

So how much does Plyboo plywood cost? Is it comparable to 3/4” 4×8 Oak or Birch prices?

Wow! I love that kitchen. I’d love to see some close-ups of the counter & shelf doors & drawers.

I been interested in Plyboo too for while, but all I can find are a few websites that sell sheets for close to $200 each.

Looks great. I love the look of bamboo. It’s very “grounding”
