expanding on a design

That’s going to be cool! I really like the design. I’m working around a part of our home theatre that has 4×45 degree angles so I’m interested in seeing pieces like this. Thanks for posting.

It’s strange how most people can’t handle any critism at all, yet like me, you take the critism to make your projects better. Of course there are those who critique to help (professors, teachers, LJ’s) and then there are those who critize only in spite. Because they’ve failed. Luckily, we don’t see any of them here.

I honestly cannot critique any of your work. It’s just too good. So “professor”; I learn from you.

That is looking really nice. I like it..the only crit i have is that your painting….but that’s just my own personal preference. I never even use stain!..I like to pick really nice wood and just clear it and let it shine. But regardless of how you finish this project it’s going to look awesome!

Mr. Trim, I have actually found something that I don’t like about your project. I really am disappointed that it’s not being installed at my house. Great design and execution – I do like it.

brad nailor thank you for your comment . i feel your pain about the paint and my personal pref. mirror yours exactly. ive never done a project for myself thats ever had anything but clearcoat on it . the type of woodworking that i do is quite different than the majority of lumberjocks . most all my projects get painted and its not my preference or my decision . its basicly about cost. thers a pretty limited number of clients thatcan or will spend what it would cost to do them in bubinga or zebrawood and all the nice exotics i see on here it may look to you folks like im trying to sneak paint into wood working . hopefully this will help you understand im actually trying to sneak wood into it hehe . bottom line i gotta eat !by the way i see your from ct. i grew up in stafford springs and later lived in ellington .

First of your shop space has too much floor space. No where near enough sawdust. And you only included one photo of your work. A lot of my stuff gets painted or glazed beyond recognition! I think people see so much cheap woodwork they don’t know what quality or real wood is anymore.

thx guys dennis thats not my workshop its an assembly area. ill try toget some photos of my workshop . im quite sure youll find less than ample floorspace and more than ample sawdust !

I lived in Florida several years ago and I remember how popular the whitewash or pickled stain and pastel colors were. I like the contrast of the warm wood tone next to the whitewash. Why are you using Minwax oil base finish instead of a pro finish like the pre-cat lacquers? Your production time will increase dramatically with these products. I use the Sherwin line and really like it. The pre-cat lacquers have U.V. blockers in the finish to protect the woodwork.

Well, you know, the customer is always right. We might preferr something else but they are the ones with the check book. Like you said,”We have to eat.” It is hard to make something look, “just like I saw in Walmart”. Dennis is right, they don’t know straight up from sic-em but they got the money. I think this project is really great. I actually like the contrast between the paint and the natural wood. It’s something else to play with. Great work.

I just did a sun room and I like the painted surface as well. It looks cleaner and cooler than wood and with the sun we have in FL we need cool! Nice work Mrtrim. Get out there and do some snook fishing when they come in.

rikkor , yes its been a long wait , they just called yesterday and the fllor is going in on the 15th so i can install after that . its a 3.5 mil house and has been a lot of hold ups . im getting excited now . i dryfitted it a while back and its going to be really sweet ! thanks
