I purchased the Kreg router table and base. Installed a Triton router. I decided to modify the cabinet insert plans on the Kreg website as the photos show. Instead of one center door covering the router compartment and a lower compartment, I added a drawer to the lower middle of the cabinet. I also modified the pullout router bit drawer on the right to allow the Kreg safety switch to be incorporated into the front of the cabinet.

I used 3/4 ” plywood for the frame of the cabinet (like the Kreg plans). The drawer is made of 1/2” plywood. The drawer and cabinet fronts are 3/4” pine. I did my best to line up the grain patterns. Eventually I’ll add another drawer underneath.

This was a fun project for a beginner. I learned how to use the Kreg pocket hole system. Plus I learned how to install drawer slides and euro cabinet hinges.

I used plywood scraps from the project to make a clamp rack. Next I’m going to tackle some more complex cabinet projects for shop storage.

Nice looking router table!
Kreg would be proud for sure.
Did you allow for airflow into and through the router itself?
