Easily the one thing I’ve made more times than anything else is cajons. I’ve just never posted them here. When I started woodworking, it was because I wanted to make musical instruments. Then I fell down the rabbit hole of everything else you could make with wood (SOOOOO MUCH!) and the only musical instruments I ended up making were cajons.
This was my first one. The joints are doweled butt joints, and I used old guitar strings strung against one of the playing services to make the snare. I used a jig saw to cut out the sound hole.
What makes this one special is not the sound. I like the sound, but it’s not the best sounding cajon I’ve made. I don’t really like the joinery on it, either. And I’ve improved the snare a lot in later versions I’ve made. But this one was signed by one of my favorite bands: FOR KING AND COUNTRY.
