Keepsake box with first attempt at epoxy inlay

I made this for a friend at work. Top is Peruvian walnut as are the splines, the box is maple. I made an attempt at her initials with a dremel tool and router base and them made a feeble attempt at an expoxy inlay with pink sand aggregate…a few air pockets, that gave me fits and still show but I couldn’t waste more time trying to fix it i had to get it done for tomorrow!! Danish oil finish with goat skin lining..the tapered sides were a challenge but they gave a nice effect to the splines…

Nice looking box. Really cool idea filling the letters with epoxy. I’ll have to try that.
