Just before cutting down the last part of the tree… I came up with the idea to make a table around it. It is made from left-over and reclaimed wood. Our friends (who own the campsite this tree is on) are thinking about a roof above it to.

You should make the frame work out of tree branches and cover with clear corrugated roofing would look really cool camping able to see the sky

Nice table, and a roof on top makes it good for sun and rail protection. If it is to support any sizable weight, i think angle brackets under the table might be needed.

Well… I walked around on it. (The brackets are not on the tree, but in the tree, I chiseled out some grooves first) It only needs to be able to put some beers on (and a drunken elbow every now and than)

So was the tree dead or is there the possibility that it will sprout leaves and continue growing? (That would solve the roof problem, natural leaves for shade.) Great way to turn a stump into something useful. Thanks for sharing.
