One of my client’s found this old Chinese tile at a flea market, and asked me to build a display stand for it. My goal to make something that would feel stylistically appropriate without detracting from the real show-piece which was the tile. I used some nice straight grained Sapele with a black-cherry stain and a lot of lacquer. The top is friction fit via 4 through-tenons, and can be removed for cleaning. This one was a lot of fun.

VERY Nice piece of work. You hit the “Form & Function” Design aspect perfectly. I have a few OLD Chinese Artifacts. I think your Client made a Good purchase.

Thanks for posting.

Very handsome and it looks sturdy too.
