It’s been a little over a years since my last posting. This is my winter project and I hope you enjoy it.

The piece is called “Broken Arrow”. The feature ring design comes from a Navaho war blanket pattern that I saw in a little Native American shop in Scottsdale AZ. I added the “broken arrows” just because they seemed to be appropriate. The piece is approximately 19” wide and 18” high. It’s constructed of western maple, bloodwood, holly, ebony, and eight different brown and tan woods which the arrow shafts and feathers are made of.

I started working on the piece during Thanksgiving of 09 and just finished the final coat of lacquer this past weekend. It still needs a good final sanding and polishing. My guess is that I have around 300 hours of build time into the project. The vase consists of 5,930 individual pieces.

Hope you like it,

DVL

Beautiful artwork – inside and out. This is exquisite. The wood choice complements the piece. Very nice – awesome.

There are no words that could do this justice. I cannot actually find the words to say how impressive this piece is! The feathers themselves are fabulous! I hope you sell it and make a pile of money although there is no amount that would pay for the hours you put into it.

That’s kind of ironic, I just got done watching the movie Broken Arrow.

This is the most beautiful Segmented bowl I ever seen. Excellent Craftsmanship!!!

Not enough praise to show how I feel. This is truly impressive.

Keep up the wonder art.
