A couple of years ago I glued up a bunch of scraps, couldn’t think of a project for it, and stored it in my shop. When I decided to make a carver’s mallet I realized that all the woods I used are pretty hard and heavy so this blank finally came in handy. It is made up of purple heart, maple, and some unknown tropical species. I am looking forward to putting it to use! Thanks for taking a look, George

Well; I think that is too pretty to use hard. Light tapping only!

That is a great looking mallet. It will be a joy to use. the species you used make for great mallets.

I got lazy and bought a mallet with a urethane head at Woodcraft. I like yours WAY better!
