New Storage Loft...

Just built a new loft for storage in my workshop…I never thought I would fill up the 30×40 foot shop but I figured the more floor spaced I have, the more tools I can buy…Hows that for logic?

I am going to build a panel cutting jig that I am going to put on hinges to hang from the ceiling of the loft to move in and out of the way.

I guess I could say that this was a real accomplishment because I built it solo. in total it leaves me 6 feet of headroom above the loft to the rafters and it covers 96 sq feet. Underneath, it is 8 feet of clearance so I can fill up the lumber rack behind it that is getting quite bare : *(

Oh well, Not exactly fancy and pretty, but it will make my shop time more efficient in the long run.

Thanks for looking,

Grub

Lofts are great. This reminds me of my days as a civil engineering student at NMSU. The university theater department had built a loft like this (but quite a bit bigger) in the back of the theater building for storing costumes, and the fire marshal had insisted on a structural check before he signed off. The CE department head asked another student and me to do it. The best part was going over there to look it over before we started running numbers. It checked out fine. Well, thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Nice loft, instead of for a bed, for a tool or two, or three! :)
