16 1/2 in diameter. Figured maple, dyed bowl with finial lid. The lid was textured with liquitex modeling paste and textured with a sponge, then dyed with Chestnut spirit stains and autocolor metallic paints.

Joanne, Nice turning, I like the shape and color of the base but don’t really care for the textured red lid .

I like it all. Well done. Just thinking, The bowl part looks like it is upside down, I don’t know how you finished the base of the bowl, if it was hollowed out, when a person needed a bowl for something it could be turned over and used as such. Then flipped over and displayed as you have made it.

I see an oriental influence here – reminds me of a Mughal or Byzantine helmet. The textured red lid is a great accent.
