I decided to take a shot at an Inside-Out Ornament. I decided the first one would be out of pine so I would not be too disappointed if it did not work out. Needless to say it worked out well so I decided to dress it up, give it a snowman theme and give it to a friend that collects unique Snowman stuff. Hope she likes it.
Overall length, including finial, is 10 1/2”; overall all circumference is 3 1/2”. Everything, with the exception of the brass hanger and spider wire suspending the Star, is hand made. The body, Snow persons and snow baby are from a $3.50 8’ 2” x 4” from Home Depot. The finial and top Knot are from a walnut pen blank; the manger is carved from scrap walnut; the straw in the manger is from strands of raffia; and the walnut base is from a scrap piece of walnut. The stand has a figured maple base and a Popular hanger. Wood choices for this project were whatever I could find in my scrap bin.
The next one is going to be my Daughter’s Christmas Ornament for this year. Waiting for her to decide what she wants displayed in the Ornament before I decide what kind of wood I will use. Looking forward to turning something easier than kiln dried pine.
