I bought Davids bandsaw box book. I Like the designs and I think the Baltic birch ply is a nice feature. Make sure you use Baltic birch not the stuff from lowes or Home Depot. This 3/4 birch has 13 plys and really no voids. I made one mistake on the one draw bubinga box. I started cutting out the draw cavity before removing the back and front. I cut away the back and front and glued on new pieces trying to keep the grain orientation to look close to normal. It worked out fine I doubt most people would notice. Another “kick save” in the shop!

These are finished with Minwax Wipe-on poly my new favorite finish for these types of projects.

Nice looking boxes Rick. I like the looks of the BB in the middle, but I thought the idea of the bandsaw box was to keep the appearance of a single block of wood? # 1 & 3 could be cut whole with a narrow blade.

My understanding is that laminated glue up for this is less likely to warp. I’ve done it both ways and think I like laminating the blank better and is less expensive

We are NOT drunken woodworkers; we are merely “alcohol enhanced”!
Now that I have clarified that HUGE issue—- great boxes.

I like that concept with playwood in the middle, it’s real quality wood saver.
