Young Deer – My first woodcarving.
I was 10 years old when I carved it. Since then, I didn’t carve about 40 years and start carving again before 8 years. And what’s surprising that I still have it with me. It was broken and glued many years after the project were finnished.

Did you design it Eli? The lines and proportions are very well balanced. You can really see Bambi sucking at his mother’s teat.

No, I copied the frame from a sketch. When I was 10 years old, I couldn’t drow a frame like this one.
I remember I was afraid to break the young deer legs and my teacher pushed me to carve them more and more thin until the current result.

Beautiful Eli!

Even though it’s cracked, it still is a classical piece of art.

By keeping this for so long, it makes this piece of art ”priceless”.
