Well, I figured out how to post pictures. I’m of the slide-rule generation. Two of my grandsons are into many sports, including basketball. They had a habit of hanging their clothes on the floor. I had bought a book at a used bookstore last summer. It was by Black & Decker and was about projects for building kid’s furniture. This was in it. I built it for a Christmas present.
It is basicall plywood and pine boards, available at any building supply. The hardest part was the inside of the hoop. I had bought a router but haven’t really mastered it yet. So…..I put a sanding drum on the drill press. I bolted a piece of an old stair tread on the DP with a large hole in the center to enclose the drum. I put the hoop over the tread and raised it into place. Turned on the DP and followed the lines for the inside of the hoop. Worked great! Primed it and painted it Tennessee orange as the boys and family are Tennessee fans. The oldest likes to draw so this year is an art center that will go at the foot of his bed. Plans are from the same book.
FYI, book title is Black & Decker, Portable Workshop, Basic Wood Projects with Portable Power Tools, Kid’s Furnishings, Cowles Creative Publishing Co., 1996. There are 20 projects, using basic tools.
