I wanted a place to put the car keys, and maybe tack on a few reminders.
Solid cherry with cork panels. I am not really happy with the cork’s look, so I may replace it some time later. Nothing fancy with the joinery, dadoes and rabbets. The design evolved as I went, which was fun. I am getting better at working around my mistakes.
Finish is VOC compliant Waterlox. Didn’t notice much difference from the non-VOC

That’s a nice little cabinet. Perfect for the front door area.
Maybe you could add a small trim piece across the top of the cork to finish it off.

I like it a lot. I might steal that design. I have a lot of live edge and half live edge slabs.
The cork is really cool. I just put some cork tiles on the front of my miter saw dust hood and like the look.
It looks really cool in this design as well. Did you finish over the cork as well or just leave it natural?

Thanks for the comments. I left the cork natural. It’s actually the backside of some leftover cork flooring.
