This is a fairly easy, but rewarding project from the Oct. 2006 issue of WOOD magazine. The top is lemon ash burl veneer, book matched. I also made two more from Cherry and Black Walnut.

Hey, Dale-
Maybe fairly easy for you but for me this is a great piece! What did you use for the substrate- Ash or MDF?
Also, the legs look to be Cherry or Birch or are they also Lemon Ash?
I’ve got hundreds of White Ash on the property but it will be mostly firewood- Many trees have been blighted already. Great wood to work with though.

Looks great! I like the figure on the top, but it would make me hesitant to put anything on it to cover the beauty.

What is the magic to determining the bow?

Steve.

John, the substrate is baltic birch plywood and the legs are curly maple. Steve, the bow is a half ellipse and the plans show how to make it. Really guys this is not that difficult, at best, I’m just an average woodworker. Thanks for the nice comments.

beautiful piece. Yours is better looking than the one pictured with the Wood Mag plan order.

Nice craftsmanship, wood choice and finish.

I wonder…did you make the legs yourself or did you buy them already pre-made?

Wonderful table! We’ve been house shopping recently and I go bonkers when I see a house with a half-round table like that. I just love ‘em.
