New grill tables

Just been horsing around the shop…My old grill tables were made of something like a balsa wood (Chinese made grill- go figure) and of course after three years, were about to fall off. I had some salvaged shipping crate 2×6’s that I found to be red oak, so I split them on the tablesaw (which is not a feat for the faint hearted, or nimble fingered!), planed them and using bisquets and Titebond III produced some fairly nice tables that should last. Not bad for free wood and a few days horsing around!

As for the “Smokemeat” pic…Kippered London Broil….Mmmm-mmmmm good!

Oh yeah…Red Oak stain and 4 coats gloss polyurethane. Think I’ll touch some black paint on those bolts too.

Looks like a reuse of a file cabinet hanger also. Lots of recycled materials.

great recycling looks good
but Dang what woooden the neigboors said if they
new you have forced me to go out here in the mittle of the night
and fire up the grill just becoursae of the last picture
and it not even the seson yet just barely over 0 degrees celcius
I don´t hope the wife shuold use that steak tonight I`ll better
buy a new tommorow
