Just been horsing around the shop…My old grill tables were made of something like a balsa wood (Chinese made grill- go figure) and of course after three years, were about to fall off. I had some salvaged shipping crate 2×6’s that I found to be red oak, so I split them on the tablesaw (which is not a feat for the faint hearted, or nimble fingered!), planed them and using bisquets and Titebond III produced some fairly nice tables that should last. Not bad for free wood and a few days horsing around!

As for the “Smokemeat” pic…Kippered London Broil….Mmmm-mmmmm good!

Oh yeah…Red Oak stain and 4 coats gloss polyurethane. Think I’ll touch some black paint on those bolts too.

Looks like a reuse of a file cabinet hanger also. Lots of recycled materials.
