Nice job. I particularly like the efforts to make it safer. What device is that controlling the lid opening/closing?

Thanks, the “spring lid supports” are made by National hardware. Model #N208. They make a left, center or right. They will support this lid until it is lowered about 1/2 way down. I think I will add a 3rd just for added safety. I searched for domestic made supports but could only find these made in Taiwan. (Menards).
Anyone know a good Made in USA hardware company? I’m looking.
