Rabbeted Box with Double Cedar Inlay from reclaimed wood

This box was made from the wooden bleachers that were removed from the high school gym. The wood is southern yellow pine. The box is about 9×12. The red inlay is cedar and was completed first. We then inlayed another piece of Southern Yellow Pine in the cedar. The box used rabbet joints for the sides and the top was glued on and then flush cut to the sides. We cut the top off with the table saw and then installed the runners. The bottom is tempered hardboard and dadoed in. The top runners are also made of cedar to complement the inlay.
