Made this vanity for a beach condo out of wormy hickory for the case and pecan for the top and back splash. My original intent was to create a gray beachwood effect by staining it with a solution of steel wool and vinegar. First coat created a nice light gray effect. I then put the solution aside and worked on other projects for a couple of weeks. When I came back to this, I decided to do another coat of the stain to try and get darker. I was astonished when the color instead turned a beautiful golden hue. Thankfully, I really liked it and went with that. Top coated with 3 coats of Enduro Varnish.
I don’t have a picture of the drawers open but they are usable drawers. I designed them with a hollow space in the middle to create room for the drain pipe and P-trap. Basically, I split the inside of the drawer into 1/3’s with the left and right 1/3 getting a drawer box and the middle third left open. I used undermount drawer slides on each side to support the total drawer.
Also made a matching mirror frame that goes above this vanity.
Used dowels for most of the construction with some pocket screws in hidden areas.
I think the blue glass sink works well for the beachy feel I was going for.
