Night Stand (1st posting)

Hi All,
I wasn’t sure where to start in posting some of my work that I have done in the past, so I thought I start with these night stands. It was a design that I came up with. As with nearly all my work, if I can make something without nails or screws, that is what I want to so as I did with these stands. By using mortise and tenon joinery. All but the drawer is made from reclaimed poplar wood. The wood was used in shipping, holding the metal strapping bands in place. At the time, all I had in tools to make the stands with was a cheap table saw and a miter saw. I used red oak stain and about 5 coats of poly on it.
These was made back in Oct ‘05 and they look just as good as they did back when I made them for myself. This was, I think, the 3rd item I made in the shop.
As I look back on my earlier works, at the time, I thought they was great, but now, well, they not so good. I, in no way, am embarrassed of my earlier works, for I look upon them and see just how far I have come with God’s help. I am not ashamed of letting others know, that I feel I am inspired by God and that he does teach me how to become a better woodworker, when I listen to Him, LOL

a) WELCOME to LumberJocks;

b) I love it.

c) Ya’ know how people use the frame, on the inside of the kitchen pantry doorway, as a place to mark the heights of their kids, over the years ??? I like that we get to look back at our earlier work (which is all that I have, so far!), and see how far we’ve come.

d) And … yeah: big fan of the salvage woods, too.
