Started this back in January. It’s good to have it done. I put the last coat of WaterLox on it this morning. I did not go for fancy but it is heavy. The top is Ash and the bottom is Poplar. I cut the trees down about 4 years ago and had it sawed by the Amish for fourteen cents a foot. I barely had enough Ash eight quarter stock to complete the top. The hardware I sourced from different venders and the cross from Bench Craft. The top sits on the legs with four inch mortises. I have more pictures on my blog.

Impressive bench. So nicely finished that it gives the impression of a piece of fine furniture. Looks like it weighs 400-500 pounds.

That’s one massive bench. I’m guessing it weighs a ton!

Hope you aren’t planning on moving anytime soon.

Handsome—perfect adjective! Nice work, 49er.

That is an awesome bench! Those legs remind me of an old girlfriend I had with thighs like that. A sweet gal she was with a real nice personality, but short on looks.

Well, that’s something out of my league. Looks very sturdy and precise. Nice finish too. I would hasitate to put something sharp on it.

Holy Moly – how many trees did you cut down to yield that monster?!

Super pretty work, too nice for sawin’ and pounding’, but I bet you will enjoy doing some of that on it!

Sorry – SubtleEpsilon, I am not much of a movie buff.

But I do believe most everything in life is expressed in a country western song somewhere.
