I am partial to bow ties when wearing a suit.
With a deep bow toward my hero, Jordan Straker, I selected a portion of a maple burl to carve out a bow tie that I intend to wear. No, really.
When I told my wife what I wanted to do she asked, “You’re not got to actually wear it, are you?”
“But, yes, my dear, I will wear it.”
So here is my bow tie, except for the neckband, ready to wear.

You might not wear it but had to be fun to make. Is this some of the burl from the neighbors tree that you got when it was cut down? Nice job Don.

I have a wedding comming up this summer, everybody knows how much I enjoy woodworking. I think it would be quite a sight if I showed up wearing one of these lol… I may just have to make one myself. Nice job!

I think every woodworker needs a wood tie. Great job. Might have to give this a try.

This burl was one I bought in Oil City.
The ones I harvested last year are not cured yet.
But I WILL wear it.
Perhaps tonight!
