This was an interesting project. I’ve worked with these coffee bean blanks before and they can be challening. The beans are so brittle that if you aren’t careful they with chip and break out of the resin leaving gouges. You need to take a very careful and gentle cut on the chisel. I basically ride the bevel and slowly bring up the handle just to the point that I’m seeing some fine dust coming off the blank. I take my time getting the blank down to size. On this project I took just a tiny bit too much of a bite of the chisel and the blank exploded requiring me to make a new one.
