I’m a little surprised I had not posted these yet. I also wanted to show that I actually have made some stuff down in my shop!
I made this nightstand for my wife’s side of the bed. This was either my second or third project I took on. I can’t remember now if I made the kitchen cabinets before this…
Anyway, the nightstand is built with pine. I used ipswich pine as a stain and minwax poly (satin) over that. I took the picture prior to adding the drawer pull.
I think it was back in November of ‘04 that my oldest daughter asked me if I could build her a dresser for Christmas that year. Not wanting to disappoint my little girl, I of course said yes.
Naturally I had jumped in over my head and she ended up getting her dresser just before her birthday in Apr ‘05! Similar to the nightstand, the dresser is finished with ipswich pine stain and followed with a few coats of satin poly.
I used 1/2” ply for the drawers in both projects and haven’t any any issues with either.

Both are very nice, Darryl. Thanks for the peek. Now, let’s see what you build from all that Baltic Bitch.

Great pieces!! My daughter would be spoiled with custom furniture too, if I had one!! I want to build a chest of drawers one day. Darryl, you should make some boxes out of those long narrow pieces of birch ply, and make the tops with the wider pieces!!

thanks everyone.
I enjoy making these pieces for my daughters. I finished a small bed side table for my oldest daughter recently. I need to get a new camera so I can get some pictures posted of that one.
