This is my favorite Adirondack, and only the second one I kept (I also have the first chair I made). I like the contrast of the white base and the natural oak.
I made the base with white pine and it’s painted with white latex exterior paint. The white oak arms, back and seat I left natural to see for myself how oak can age without any sealers. So far, so good. I left it out all winter last year and plan on doing so again this year.
The oak pieces now have that nice silver look after going through two New England summers.
I built the chair in March ‘06. The outdoor shots were taken in Aug ‘06
