Live Edge Pine Buffet/Desk

A friend wanted a buffet/desk for their family room and gave me free range. I decided the environment needed a live edge floating anchor under their picture shelves. A quick trip to a local saw mill netted a nice wide pine slab that met the length, interest and width requirements.

Sanding, minimal altering of the edge profile, a nice honey stain and a strong epoxy high gloss finish to the slab. Then mounted it using brackets (hidden) and a couple of flat black painted over range kitchen cabinets for storage completed the floating effect. They were ecstatic about the transformation. I felt like living room crashers with the reveal!

This is a very creative piece and you used some nice wood and did a fine job on it.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Yes my friend is quite happy with the finished product and I am looking at other live edge projects to take on for myself. Perhaps some live edge walnut crotch end tables…
