This is my very first wood project. I cut the cedar from the woods nearby and dried it indoors. Then I measured and cut the diagonal brace and put it all together with countersunk lag bolts. I had to replace the old one that got run over by a driver that fell asleep at the wheel.

The part that the mailbox itself is attached to is rough-cut pine I got from a friend.

Looks good. You’re lucky to be able to do it this time of year. I don’t know where you are located but up here the ground is frozen and the snowbanks too big (must be nice, haha). The post looks plumb, the box looks level, and you have a nice plank bridge too, can’t beat it. Thanks for sharing and welcome to Lumberjocks.

I’m here in Missouri. We’ve got wonderful weather this week. The picture you see is from the beginning of last fall. I’ve only just gotten around to joining up here and putting my project up! Thanks for the comment!
