I wasn’t really intending to make a chuck box. I wanted to try making a box with splines in the miter joints. I did the box part ok, screwed up the spline part. I boogered the splines getting them flush with the box. I need 1 of those flush cut saws to prevent that. Sawdust and glue didn’t help. That’s when it became a chuck box. At least I will find out how sturdy the box is, this should be a good test.

I made a jig to cut the box for the splines. I see that Boxguy has a video for making splines. I’ll be making 1 of those soon. Thanks, Boxguy!

I’m sorry it didn’t turn out the way you wanted, but sounds like you learned from it, which is a good thing. You’ve also given me a great idea as well, so thank you!

Actualy spline jig catched my eye (although I built one). That stop block system looks very useful here. I planned just to clamp blocks with clamps at my. This is much convinient.

Hairy…Still pretty good though!!!! You now have a nice useful Chuck Box. I have only made splines once and intend having another go at them…So thank you for pointing me in the direction of The Box Guy. I am sure he would have some great Tips, Good Project. Regards,

Cliff.
