This jewelry box measures approximately 12”w x 6”h x 6”d and is made from Birdseye Maple and Walnut. The lid and sides are resawn from the same slab of maple. The Maple had been drying in my shop for about 20 years, so the lid has stayed flat :). I used 10mm barrel hinges and curved the lid to allow for easy opening. The lift out tray is divided; the tray and bottom are covered in velvet. The box sides slope inward and the tenoned “Beams” beneath add a little more interest. The box is lacquered in order to keep the Maple as light as possible.

Great use of complementary angles. The wood is exceptional, lacquer was an excellent choice.

Well done!

This is a real beauty. It has a lot of nice details on it and the wood is fine. Congratulations.
