Inspired by DIY Pete, I cut a bourbon barrel in half and made a coffee table. Super fun project!

Silly question but did you apply any chemicals to retard the odor of smokey whiskey? I like the thinking outside the box approach though.

This is a good looking table and I like it’s character. Well done.

I totally love your table. I sure wish I had room for one.

David38- not a silly question at all. I used Oxyclean to rid it of the smell. Mix some of the unscented powder with hot water in a bucket and use a scrub brush. I do about 4 or 5 passes, each one with a new bucket mixture and that seems to get rid of the sweet stench.

Very nice looking table. I love projects that reuse other materials for great new purposes.

Great looking barrel coffee table—as a bourbon drinker, I love it!
