Another commision piece, made of knotty alder. the customer wanted something to match their cabinets also made in knotty alder. They wanted it to look old and beat up so I took a gringer and rounded every corner unevenly even the crown mould. Then came the hammer ,nails, bolts, hatchet and chain and then 220 sandpaper to smooth it to a soft touch. The mantel box is constucted out of 8/4 alder custom crown and hand carved corbels in mahogany from Hondoras, the customer had those from a recent mission trip and wanted those added. Before I left their home they were decorating it and calling friends over to take a look.

Looks great! Can you describe what kind of finish you put on it?
