This is a bucket ball net. I made it out of lumber that I had laying around in the yard. The main post is a 4×4 post from a fence that I removed from the front patio of my house when we moved in. The frame to hold the bucket in place was made from some 2×2s that used to be part of the railing on my deck. The backboard was cut from some 1/2 inch ply that was lying around in my backyard since I moved in. One of those pieces of wood that you keep around saying “I’m gonna need that one day.” The base is some 2×4s that my neighbour didn’t need anymore. The bucket was a 13kg margarine bucket that I got full of off cut pieces of exotic wood at a wood show last year. I made this for my daughter so she could have something to do in the backyard. She uses golf balls with it. It’s just high enough that when she runs out of balls she can take the bucket out of the frame and dump it. It’s lots of fun and just hard enough of a game for Daddy to play to. Anybody else have any ideas for games for the yard? Now that it’s springtime I need something fun for us to do in the backyard. If you want specifics on sizes just let me know. Hope it sparks some ideas for you. One day I’ll get around to painting it, but I didn’t have any exterior paint to do it yet.

Nice little game for the daughter and creative use for lumber that is just lying around. Will last much longer than the Walmart stuff, that is for sure.
Thanks for sharing,
David

We threw a few too many golf balls into it yesterday and now it needs a little reconstruction to make it a little stronger. Oh well back to the drawing board. I have a few ideas for how to make it stronger. I’ll post some pics when I get it done.
