Garden seat #2 is on the right. Garden seat #1 is in my project list and the write up. The top is 2×6 regular wood and painted with deck stain to match the Garden Bench in my projects. I like to sit on regular wood. The frame is from extra poplar a friend gave me. I planned it to be 2 inch strips. The seat board is 33 inch long and I worked the frame size backwards by how much overhang I wanted. 3 inches each end. The legs are 15 inch long. the seat frames are 13 inch long. I used the drill press to get the countersinks correct. And Kreg 2 inch screws for a flat bottom head and predrilled a slightly wider hole in the first board for expansion in the frame to the seat board. The butt joints are glued and the 45 degree brace, but not the frames to the seat board. If the seat rocks I have enough poplar to make feet but they would have to mount on the side of the frame to not raise the seat height. Time to get the burner out and have a scrap wood fire.

Nice looking set of benches—I’m sure you’ll enjoy them very much this summer!
