Very cool! I am also in the middle of building my first guitar from scratch. Are you going off any particular plans or are you winging it? When you say your neck was a 2×4, do you mean literally a piece of douglas fir? If so, just out of curiosity, how did it work before you disassembled it?

well i have acouple books on guitar builing, but i only used the plans for the stuff that needs to be mathematically sound, ya know, but i did pretty much what i wanted as far as design goes, as for the neck, i just meant that the size of it was way to big, it felt like a 2×4, or a baseball bat, hence the name, the neck was actually shaped out of a piece of maple i had, but the guitar worked great, especially since it was my first, anyway, good luck with yours, they are fun to tackle
