This is a box made from hickory. This is made to hold dog bones and so forth to keep our family room looking a little more presentable. The wood is hickory and for the floor of the box I cut strips of hickory and alternated that with some aspen I had. I glued up the strips into a panel and it is floating in a dado, just a little glue in the center. Also had to glue up a strip to add the needed width for the top. The dimensions are about 15 inches by 9 and almost 8 inches tall (sized to allow a plastic container to slip inside to allow for easy cleaning as dog bones, etc can get rather…well, not clean!). I finished it with General Finishes High Performance. Really happy with how the grain wrap turned out. This matches the treat box I made a few months back . These are the two pups that inspired the project.
