Some of you scrollers out there may want to try this fun project. I’ll give the plans url and YouTube instructional video below.
I decided to laminate the board with strips of sapele. mahogany and poplar. I didn’t have a wide enough board anyway, so it served a practical purpose. For me, good glue-ups are always a challenge, especially when using exotic woods that tend to be oily, which I found sapele to be.

After doing the cutting, a few of the joins came apart, which I repaired with CA glue. So far they have held.

The tricky part is the assembly. Fortunately, the gentleman who provided the pattern also gave a tutorial on how to put it together with the 18 staves it needs.
I think that I’ll go with one species for the next one and look for a board wide enough

The pattern is found at: http://www.seafax.co.uk/index.php?id=a-woven-scroll-saw-basket
Instructional video is at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXW-FfxCXiA
Thanks for looking.

That’s a great job with some challenge to it too. Beautifully done.

Beautiful but that is way too much for me, I wouldn’t even attempt something like that.

Great job on the basket Bob. I have made several different styles of scrolled baskets over the years and may have to try this one as well. Thanks for the pattern and the video

I like this basket. It’s a nice technique and is beautifully done.
