Project Information

Finally I'm able to post a project!!

I completed this twin bed of my own design yesterday. I built this for a friends 2 year old daughter.
I built it out of poplar #1 because it was going to be painted and #2 there was a small budget. I won't be making anything on the job but I'm hoping the little girl enjoys it-she's been asking mommy where her bed is for the past 2 weeks LOL
I wanted to make it special for her so I inlaid a 5" tall purpleheart "S" (her initial) in the foot board. I used the Mark Spagnolo inlay technique (my first attempt at this) and left it proud of the surface by 3/16".
I was able to use tools that I bought at a garage sale in Ohio last summer that I had yet to be able to because i only had a patio to work on-now I am sharing a 40' x 70' shop with my brother (what a joy that is)
Hope everyone enjoys and I would like to hear your comments and criticism.

Very nice work Jeff. Great to be able to pull out tools that had not yet been used and enjoy them. And to share space with your brother… nothing wrong with a little brotherly love and bonding. My interest in wood working and home repair projects in general actually began with a project that my brother I did together.

Looks great Jeff - I'm sure she'll love it. I need to make a single bed so I am looking for ideas, are those metal corner brackets I see, how did they work out? I am not quite up to mortise and tenons yet!
