Built this simple workbench with two layers of particle board and a single layer of hard board for the top. Very heavy bench. Drawers slide very nicely on simple wood runners with a coat of paste wax on both drawer bottoms and runners.

Looks solid, clean and functional. Drawers and a shelf for storing power tools. Did you consider doors for the shelf area to keep out sawdust?

Ha. I can tell by your question you are not a newbie. I definitely should have doors! The dust collects all over the shelf!
