My sister took care of our dog for a week, so I decided she deserved a gift. I made this cutting board to match her kitchen island (okay, I made her entire kitchen, but that’s another story). It’s all end grain cherry and maple. The middle photo is detail of the grain in each corner.

Fun to make, but lots of gluing.

Thanks for looking.

I like the pattern and the wood choice . A very nice cutting board.
I’ve made long grain cutting boards but have never done end grain boards. What process do you use for truing up and smoothing the faces. With mine I just use the planner, which wouldn’t be an option on end grain boards. I’d like to learn that process as it appears to offer more design options.

Beautiful board. I’ve been thinking about using cherry in a cutting board for a while now. I’m convinced now.
