My Granddaughter needed a playhouse. I did a search found a picture of one my son and DIL like. I got on Sketchup cobbled something together. Weather wouldn’t let me do anything outside so used my garage for assembly.
It is constructed from 1×6 western red cedar fencing, 2×2’s and 2×3’s with asphalt shingles from Restore. It took about 6 weeks to get the cedar down from 30% moisture to 10%. I planed it to 1/2” thicked dadoed the edges 1/4” to cover for any additional shrinkage. Overall the platform is 6’x6’ the house is 4’x6” the walls are about 54” high the roof peak is a little over 6”. I put a dutch door on it which seemed to be a hit. I assembled it in my garage, glued and screwed the siding on the walls, painted it then stacked it against the wall and waited for her birthday which we celebrated Sunday. My son and I put it together in the morning. She unwrapped it in the afternoon. The nicest day of the year sunny and almost 70.
She seems to like it.

That is a great job Bruce. Happy Granddaughter with a cool house of her own.

This is a great project. Making memories, one board at a time.

Grand daughters don’t NEED play houses but Grandpas NEED to do anything they can for granddaughters. That’s because those little girls are so sweet. I built one for my daughter and 20 years later I built one for my granddaughter. If I live long enough I’ll build one for my great granddaughter…... Ad so it goes

Great job on the playhouse, Bruce. Getting paid in smiles and the laughter of children makes it all worth it!
