This is a bent runner sled, although I finished it a bit late :) The runners were steam bent from 3/4 inch oak and the back pieces were also steam bent from some red oak I re-sawed to about 1/4 of an inch thick. I made a bending form from some mdf glued together and a steam box, that I posted about earlier, to make the runner. I finished the whole thing with marine varnish and put aluminum runners on the base of the runners with stainless steel screws to hold them in place. All in all it looks pretty good and should be fun next year!

very nice project. Now you need to make a snow making machine to go with it. Your little girl looks like she thinks it’s a winner

Nice sled. Cool bending job!!
But, you need to add a rope unless you carry it back up the hill!

this is awesome! I always wanted to make one of those (just don’t have the capacity to actually make it…lol)

Thanks! The plan is to add a rope, otherwise I think it would make the whole sledding experience a lot more difficult, for me anyway.
