It’s unorthodox and idiosyncratic much like my other bench/couch. Which is the why of the “Franken” prefix for these two projects. Started thinking about my “dream” workbench many years ago. Career and family demands along with rehabbing my house and workshop along with making much of our furnishings took precedence. I had a window of opportunity toward the end of 2016 to build this bench. It’s my most personal project and my most prized tool. Like many aspects of my life, I’m reminded of what one of the characters in The Umbrellas of Cherbourg says toward the end of that film- I’m not ambitious, but my dreams come true.
The long story (not as time-consuming as watching a YouTube video, however) explaining my design and construction choices is on this blog entry

Refreshing to see a different approach to bench design.

You have created the Swiss Army Knife of benches- AND you can pull a stool up to it. It might even support a beer or three when you do, after the power supplies are off, of course.

Not only is that bench the thing of dreams, the photography, lighting, and environment it lives in is perfect. Wonderful work—very, very nice.

+1 for the French cinema reference. Don’t see many (any?) around these parts.

Real nice work on your bench. I looked at the photos of your house, and I must say I am truly impressed. Well done all around.

A very unique and useful bench. The adjustable height is a great idea.
